Decisions, Decisions…

I’ve already talked about going to the Texas Challenge in March. It’s literally half a mile from where I work so how can I not? For those of you who don’t know, the “Challenge” part is an event where teams composed of cachers from different regions of the state go find special caches placed for the Challenge and whichever team gets the most finds wins. I was playing for team CenTex (Central Texas) but the co-captains of the team had to bow out, leaving us rudderless. I’m busy deciding whether or not to take up the mantle myself. The problem is that I’m the kind of person who can lead, but would rather function as a lieutenant than as the head honcho himself. That, and I figure that I should actually compete in one before I try to run a team. But somebody has to do it. If nobody announces they’re willing to do it by the end of the weekend, I probably will. Why not?

In a slightly more salient thought (salient to the Project, that is), I’m pretty sure I’m going to get back on the road sooner than expected! I’m hoping to get a one-day in next weekend, but it turns out that there’s going to be a lot of days off between now and the new year. I’m looking at several days around Christmas, specifically the day before through the day after Christmas along with New Year’s Day and the day after. If I can get a one-day to the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area and another going east from Lubbock, I can tighten my radius down to stuff around Dallas. That could mean a good weekend in January could finish it all off. I’m feeling pretty psyched about this. I could be done before the end of next month! So I think let’s do this!

  1. Step up, Captain! I look forward to meeting you at Challenge – and winning the Gold Ammo Can!

(I hope you don’t mind the friendly attempt at Smack Talk.)
