804. White Plains, Westchester County (NY01)

Oh, New York!

The courthouse in White Plains was depressingly modern, but what could be expected from a suburb of The City? They no doubt have so much work going through this building that even I concede that a traditional courthouse would be inadequate for the task. Much was sacrificed to get here, both in New Jersey and in New York. I’ll even tell you all a secret: I had, in the early planning stages of the trip, come up with a route to hit all the counties of New York City (each of the five boroughs is coterminous with a county) by myself in a nighttime escapade. The problem was that if I was going to hit the five boroughs, I’d want to finish Long Island, and adding in the other two counties there, that would take all night. I’m capable of it, but I might need to be more conscious during the daytime hours. So I avoided the obvious jewel, but at least I could claim the state.

It was the end of our day, so what we needed was something simple and quick. We all pulled up in front of an office building a few blocks from the courthouse. A quick search revealed a nano hidden beneath a parking meter. It was more than easy peasy lemon squeezy, especially with all our experienced eyes on the case. We put our ink on the log and then made for our lodgings for some well-deserved rest. We had four states under our belts and big plans for the morning. We let showers and sleep soothe our sore muscles and tired minds and arose for breakfast and camaraderie the next morning.
