This Year Ends

Soon, this year will be over. As of this writing, I have been caching for 2,026 days and am on Day 2,024 of a streak. This year, I have placed 1 hide; hosted 7 events (3 of which I couldn’t attend thanks to Covid); and found 2,475 caches, including 608 [!!!] FTFs (mostly resulting from group attacks of new Geoarts in the area), 54 new counties, 13 new states, the District of Columbia, and a new province in Canada, resulting in the completion of Delaware and Connecticut. I also attended a Mega-Event and was invited by Groundspeak to do another interview. On a certain level, this was a less eventful year than 2022. But I still managed to write 182 entries, totaling just over 87,000 words, while (slowly) continuing a second round of edits on my first book. By any metric, it’s been a heck of a year!

I hope your old year ends well. I hope your new year begins even better. I hope it stays sparkling, no matter how that happens, whether it’s sparkling clothes, sparkling stars, or sparkling company. I hope your final caches of the year are as fun and interesting as the first. And I hope you find whatever you’re seeking, whether it’s around your neighborhood or in a far-off county, country, or continent. I’ll try to do the same. Good luck, and as hoary as the joke is, I’ll write again next year!

Because New Year’s Day is coming up, I, as staff writer, editor in chief, and owner of this periodical, will be taking Monday off to tend to whatever tiredness (or hangover) results from New Year’s Eve parties. So don’t freak out Monday morning when you don’t hear from me!
