843. Heber City, Wasatch County (UT03)

As the saying goes: “Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and thrice is enemy action.” By that, I mean that after hitting three administration centers in a row, I concluded that “courthouses” might not be so much a thing in Utah.  Again, I wasn’t incredibly impressed with the building I was parked at.  And why would I be?  It was, at best, a highfalutin office building, not meant to be a symbol for anything.  Luckily, that was not the most important thing for my purposes.  What was important was the cache.

It didn’t disappoint.  I ended up stumbling on one of the most favorited caches in the county around the corner at the Heber Valley Railroad.  The station was pristine, with a bunch of railroad engines and cars on display.  I was initially worried that I’d have to find something magnetic somewhere in all that big iron, but the regular size designation led me to believe that even that might not be too terribly difficult.  Far from the iron, near the front door, was a painted ammo can waiting to be discovered.  I was so impressed with the paint job that I even gave it one of my stingily hoarded favorite points.  And with that, it was time to set off again.  The jewel of the journey lay so close I could taste it, and I managed to plan things well enough to enjoy it in the remaining daylight.  I am, of course, talking about…
