This Year Ends

Soon, this year will be over. As of this writing, I have been caching for 2,391 days and am on Day 2,388 of a streak. This year, I have placed 4 hides, hosted 4 events (with a fifth happening tonight), and found 2,136 caches (including 44 FTFs, 24 new counties, and 1 new state). I also attended 3 Mega-Events (2 in Texas and 1 in Oklahoma), was invited by Groundspeak to do another interview, and appeared on Caching in the Northwest and in Magtfplanner’s epic trip around the US. I also wrote 167 entries totaling over 83,000 words and have (finally) completed a second round of edits on my first book. Not the most I’ve ever done, but it’s still been a heck of a year!

I hope your old year ends well. I hope your new year will be even better. I hope you enjoy sparkling company, comfortable solitude, or whatever makes you feel relaxed and happy. I hope your final caches of the year are as fun and interesting as your first. And I hope you find whatever you’re seeking, whether around your neighborhood or in a far-off county, country, or continent. I’ll try to do the same. Good luck, and as hoary as the joke is, I’ll write again next year!

Because New Year’s Day is coming up, I, as staff writer, editor in chief, and owner of this periodical, will be taking Wednesday off to tend to whatever tiredness (or hangover) results from New Year’s Eve parties. So don’t freak out tomorrow morning when you don’t hear from me!
