So the girls and I were driving out of Rockport when I saw the top of a large building a couple of blocks over from the highway. It didn’t have a cross on top, so it wasn’t a church. I wasn’t aware of any colleges there and didn’t think the town was large enough for one anyway. I drove past it but decided, as the driver and highest-ranking person on the trip, to turn back and check it out. Having seen so many courthouses worked in my favor because I was chuffed to read the building title above the door: Aransas County Courthouse! It was still under construction, but none of the lunching workers attempted to stop me as I photographed it. The cornerstone had been laid last year. I saw neither workers nor staff going into the building nor any sign that it was open, but I couldn’t be sure it wasn’t in use. All I knew was that horrid storefront from before was now a store, as it should be. The county is finally vindicated!

Oh, and while we were at it, we grabbed some caches, too. I think that context will have to wait until Monday, though. There are a lot of ins and outs, primarily of counties, and details that warrant more than just something hastily thrown out in a hotel room. Besides, my roommates are making it difficult to write, as they are both enjoying hotel life and bickering in equal measure. I have a feeling next week will be devoted to this weekend. So watch this space!
