In January, I went to an Event. As a side quest, the CO published a Multi in the same parking lot. A lot of the attendees got it on that day. I already had a cache for the day (the Event), so I merely tagged along with someone going to sign it. I knew where it was and could go back anytime I wanted, so I let it chill. Well, yesterday I needed a cache, and I was nearby, so I pulled into the specified parking lot, drove behind the specified building, and found the specified container hanging from a telephone pole.
With that work done, I got to the reason I was in the area in the first place. I was scouting out the location for a new hide. I stumbled across a location for a hide last week and wanted to check it out further. It looks like it may fit the bill, but I have to go back to be sure because I didn’t take a tape measure. I keep a small set of tools in my trunk. I have an eight-foot pole and a twelve-foot ladder. I have two ammo cans! Why do I not have a tape measure somewhere in there? So anyway, if it’s not raining tomorrow, I’ll go back to the location, take some measurements, and then run over to a home improvement store to acquire some parts.
I’ve been invited to write an article for a British geocaching magazine, PinPoint. I told them I had no earthly idea why they were approaching me because I’ve never written anything in my life, but I would try to whip something up for them. More seriously, though, I’m happy to do it. I have long felt that anything written on the Internet is ultimately written in water. All it would take is a server crash or some other equipment failure or me just deciding to no longer pay the upkeep bill, and everything I’ve written here would probably be gone within a year. One day, I will have done something about that (I’m working on it, believe me), but until that day, I can’t think too hard about it, or I will probably get really sad.
As for the opposite of sad, things are rolling around in my head. I’m having ideas and thinking about routes. I might be making some actual plans soon, and if that happens, watch out!
