
Future Arborists of America, attend! The courthouse in San Luis was quite interesting with its belfry. I couldn’t recall seeing anything like it before in the southwest or adjacent areas. However, there was a perfect line of trees planted in front of the courthouse. Sure, they provide shade for the benches out front and probably for the building itself, but it’s completely getting in the way of my photography endeavors! Why can’t the people of the past think of my needs?

As for the cache, I drove north to nearby Fort Garland and, after DNFing a simple one, ended up at the most favorited one in the county, a bison in a tree at the county veterans memorial. Shucky darn, what horrid luck! Of course, the tree was some kind of coniferous pokey one which, combined with the micro part, made for an annoying search. Ironically, I brought a ladder and a pole, but I forgot to bring my grabber and that would have made things so much easier. In the end, the deed was done and that’s all that mattered.
