865. Montrose, Montrose County (CO51)

Now that is a courthouse! It’s also obviously the old courthouse. There is actually a more modern structure, a combined court building at another location in town. I came here because the county clerk is based behind this old courthouse, and got to see this beautiful old chonker. Yes, I know that it’s not the actual administrative center of the county, but as I have stated on multiple occasions before, I am sometimes aesthetic trash.

As for the cache, it was a cute little bee themed park and grab about a block from the courthouse. I felt a little silly because I assumed the great little kindness-inspiring placard was the log and signed it before realizing the actual log was inside the bee itself. I was momentarily embarrassed that I was just following what others had done before me. Don’t worry, I went ahead and signed the other log as well. Luckily, thanks to a minimal amount of windy road driving to get there, Montrose turned out to be a pretty quick (dare I say encouraging) stop. If more of the counties that day would have similar trips, it would be a productive day. It might even make up for some of the annoying crap of the previous day. Of course, I knew where I was going later and was well aware that quick driving would not be the overall case, but I got an easy drive when I went north-ish going to…
