896. Livingston, Sumter County (AL07)

Alright, I don’t even know what was going on with this courthouse.  Some kind of courthouse anarchy, perhaps?  The monuments were on one side, the entrance on another.  I couldn’t even see a flagpole, and I still don’t know if it was just obscured by all the trees or if it wasn’t there at all.  It was another French-influenced buildings like back in Eutaw so I really don’t think my normal courthouse tips even apply.  I had no earthly idea what to do with that place so I did the only thing I could: took a photo of a facade and went from there.

The cache was a park and grab, this time at City Hall, which used to be a train station until it was repurposed.  It took me a few minutes to find because the coordinates were jumpy as all get out, but eventually I found a film canister shoved into an unexpected but completely obvious spot.  Not quite easy peasy, but certainly lemon squeezy.  The sun was getting low and would be setting soon, leaving me no time to find another cache before the light was gone.  I went ahead and headed for a hotel.  I never stopped feeling unnatural to end my day so early (4:30 Eastern, 5:30 Central), but it did mean that, after a little writing and a shower, I was in bed before 8:00 PM.  I don’t feel I got as much done as I would have liked, but this was certainly shaping up to be the most restful road trip I had ever taken.  The next morning, I rose early and got ready to tackle the day.  I was able to get to it pretty quickly since I had spent the night in…
