912. Liberty, Amite County (MS22)

Another French looking courthouse!  Louisiana is leaking in again!  On the way in, at a friend’s request, I took a shot at a famous grave, that of comedian Jerry Clower.  Unfortunately, his grave was at a church and service was in full swing.  I demurred since it ran afoul of arguably my biggest rule: never get involved with a church on a Sunday.

Luckily, someone was kind enough to put a cache right at the courthouse.  I was a little worried since the last person to search didn’t find it, but they had very few finds so I took their assessment with a grain of salt.  It turned out to be there, a nano in garish camouflage colors.  It was obviously supposed to be on a metal pole at GZ, but it was no longer magnetic.  I’ve seen similar cases before, but I always assumed they were defective containers.  I don’t know what actually demagnetizes a magnet outside of intentional equipment or something weird like being struck by lightning or a power line.  Someone placed it at the base of the pole and leafy detritus managed to cover it over, so I can see how the previous cacher may have missed it.  Inveni, inscripsi, reposui.  And then I mounted back up again, heading to the final county of the trip, meeting destiny in the town of…
