It took me a week, but I am finally upright, cogent, and not generally worn the BLANK out. A lot of people did a lot of hard work (I just stood around and looked pretty) but I still did about thirteen thousand steps a day inside the Expo Center putting out some proverbial fires so I feel confident saying that I did some stuff. If you ever run a Mega yourself, I offer you two pieces of essential advice:
1. Get a team of people you can trust to do what needs to be done.
2. Take care of anything on your planning schedule a month before the deadline.
If you manage those two things, you will be set. If you only get one, you’ll muddle through but it’ll be rough. If you have neither, well, I don’t even know what to tell you.
That said, I took the opportunity to log a challenge or two last week because my goal for a couple of days was to be home and writing from bed by 6PM so I could roll over a couple of hours later and sleep. Once I was only slightly worn out, not critically worn out, I went back to grabbing caches the old fashioned way. I even hit an Equinox Event for good measure because of course I did. It turned out to be beneficial in an unexpected way. I mentioned that I’ve been passively working on a challenge for a long time to find caches with the word “don’t” in the title for almost six years and was only halfway there. Someone listening was kind enough to place a couple of caches with “don’t” in their titles over the weekend. One day I might actually finish that challenge! I also took some time to do a little spring cleaning of notes, flyers, and other ephemera related to my recently completed ordeal. May I say that the interior of my car has become much more manageable since! My home purging has begun but is in no way complete. If I were a less tired man, I would have done some of that work over the weekend, but that smacked of effort and effort was anathema to me. There will be time enough for that anyway. It is spring, after all.
I’m sure I’ll have Mega on the brain for a little while longer since it’s been a preoccupation for so long, but soon my brain will be back to its regularly scheduled program already in progress. Just give me time.
