An elegant courthouse… I know I said I was tired of the entire red brick thing (and I actually still am), but it works here. I also found it interesting that there is a genealogical society next door to it that I’m guessing has easy access to the county archives to do research. That is what we call synergy. It’s a little odd that the society is between the courthouse and its annex (which is alright, but not great because they really only made a half-assed attempt to paint it the same color as the courthouse, but meh).

May I also say that the war memorial across the street is…interesting. Technically, it’s not actually across the street since it’s in the median of the road running in front of the courthouse, but it’s literally just a large rock, dedicated to all forces, land, sea, and air. I get what they’re trying to do here, but this is either the cheapest or laziest war memorial I have ever seen. I probably shouldn’t be so judgmental about it because, from a certain point of view, it’s quite earnest, the fruits of the county, more than likely produced by the hands of its citizens, offered up as a tribute. On the other hand, I’ve seen some crazy memorials in some poorer counties so I don’t know what to tell you here. They can do better. But I was just a tourist with other things on my mind.
There’s always a cemetery. I decided to get some breakfast and that put me right across the street from the town cemetery so I decided to go ahead and grab one there. That, of course, mean having to hunt for my most favorite type of cache of all, a micro in a tree! But that was neither here nor there (actually, it obviously was there, but you get my meaning)… My quarry had been acquired and I could get moving once again, this time heading to…
