584. Convent, St. James Parish (LA63)

Welcome to another office building from the 80’s! Nothing particularly distinctive about it. I’ve worked in a few buildings like it. Some courthouses are just not exciting and the workings of the county run through here. There’s just no way around it.

The cache was a white plastic box in a bush. I felt pretty silly because it took surprisingly longer than I expected to find, not because it was difficult, but because it was so obvious that my brain just naturally passed over it and it’s not the first time that’s happened. That, and I do have a minor issue with D1 caches that are hidden. Difficulty one should be totally obvious. Any effort to obscure it should automatically make it D1.5. It’s a small thing, but it’s one of the things that I think about. Some caches just are not all that exciting. There’s just no way around it.

I headed out of the parish, despite a momentary bit of worry over a fire at some sort of industrial location, with a little bit of a smile on my face. I had gotten the penultimate parish of both the trip and the state, and I headed both towards home and my destiny as I finally made it to…
