685. Council Grove, Morris County (KS088)

When I pulled into downtown, I saw a couple of cop cars with disco lights blazing, police holding someone they had pulled over.  That’s always an ominous sight when I’m just pulling into a town.  On the other hand, that makes that many more law enforcement officers too busy to question why I’m cruising around town at 3:00 a.m.  That said, this courthouse does not spark joy in me.  I’m sure it’s perfectly adequate, but I will always hope for something with more panache.  Of course, having to park in front of the Sheriff’s Department didn’t help either, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.

I couldn’t resist a park-and-grab ammo can.  I almost did resist because it required driving all the way across town.  Then I remembered that “all the way across town” meant a mile and change away.  Once I got there, it was the proverbial easy peasy lemon squeezy.  After taking a few minutes to top up my water bottle, top up my gas tank (at one of the lowest prices I’d seen recently, I might add), and wash some bug guts off my windshield, I set off again for my real and intended starting point for the day…
