797. Georgetown, Sussex County (DE1)

Oh, Delaware!

This was my first time visiting the first and smallest state in the Union, so at least I was greeted by a courthouse that was worthy of its superlative nature or some kind of crap like that. Some sort of display lit up the courthouse, providing a blueish tint over all the buildings in the square. The traffic was also going slowly through, and I wondered if perhaps there had been some kind of Delaware Square takeover or something similar.

On the original itinerary, we had planned to go get the oldest cache in Delaware, but with it being in a state park that closed at sunset, that would have required some trespassing that we were neither willing nor able to do at that moment. We instead settled for a Whereigo behind a gas station. As you can imagine, a green cap-and-cap is hard to find in a tree at night, but somehow, after spending far too long, we managed to put our ink on the log. Poor correspondent that I am, what I did not manage was to photograph the cache. This periodical apologizes for this mistake, and those responsible have been sacked. No matter.   1. I found the oldest cache in Delaware this summer. Very cool, but definitely a time commitment with a severe lack of cell phone reception. You’ll need to return someday.
