806. North Haven, South Central COG (CT2)

Another mundane office building greeted me in North Haven. At least it wasn’t terribly difficult to get to or in the middle of nowhere. It had been lightly raining all morning, but it was not enough to be more than an inconvenience. I did my photography, and then we jetted off on our way again. We had already accomplished the primary aim of finding a cache, and that left me more disappointed in the center of the COG than I would have normally expected.

We had just come from the town of Milford, and its city hall was more impressive than any COG office I would see the entire day. I had thought that it may have been one of the old courthouses repurposed, but I was wrong. No, it wasn’t on the level of Baltimore or Philly, but it would do nicely as town halls go. Normally, I wouldn’t care about city hall, but it was the closest parking to the location of our cache, a Virtual devoted to three former governors of Connecticut. All three men had something in common (other than being governor), and once we divined that from the appropriate place along with another tidbit, we submitted our answers, and voilà, another county equivalent knocked out! At this point, our two vehicles parted ways temporarily.

I long ago realized that when I decided to add courthouses to my requirements for claiming a county, I was making things a lot more difficult for myself. Otherwise, I could skirt county lines and just dip a toe in, just far enough and long enough to get a cache, and then get going again to the next county. That choice has allowed me to see some cool places and things, saved me from making some horrible mistakes (except in one case), and revealed interesting things to gripe about all over the country! On the other hand, the thing I never seriously considered was the effect it might have on other cachers. I know that my peculiar requirements dragged my compatriots on this trip to a lot of places they would not have otherwise gone. For putting up with me, I thank them immensely. What does this have to do with anything? Well, I had to take a diversion to another town. Our first cache of the morning was well away from its county-equivalent seat (COG seat?), and this was the best time to go to it so that I could finish my trip goal of completing Connecticut. So Godot, Krissy4884, and Razorbackgirl headed in one direction to grab challenges in the area, and Kittydcota, 4everlyn, and I went in another direction. We knew our next visit would be a bit of an emotional one, so we were ready for our arrival in…
