The drive in from Montrose was blessedly flat and simple: no windy roads, no hairpin curves, no cresting anything. I never felt so happy for a simple drive before. The courthouse was adequate, though not special. There was the unfortunate issue of a tree covering up the name of the place, but otherwise no big whoop. Some courthouses are just average and that’s OK with me.

The most favorited cache in the county wasn’t far from the courthouse, so I went ahead and got it. It led to park with a reconstruction of an old Spanish fort called Fort Uncompahgre, and no do not ask me to pronounce that. There were a lot of muggles around because the other half of the park was having some kind of balloon festival, but that meant they weren’t interested in goings on around the old fort.

When I got to the GZ, I was impressed! The hide was incredibly well designed, so much so that the only reason I’m discussing it is because the entire thing is detailed in the hint. If it was not for that, I would say nothing to betray it. It was an ammo can, stored on top of a hinged board between the two sides of an information display. I’m not entirely sure if I would have noticed its latch on my own (someone better than me certainly would have) but I think I would have figured it out on my own. Regardless, I had it in my hands, so I signed the log and then took a bit to switch out some trackables, three for three. In that, there is symmetry. Since I was running well ahead on time, I even stopped to take a rare selfie in the wild.

After remembering that selfies are hard and I’m terrible at them, I began to mentally prepare. While I was running 30-45 minutes ahead at that point (the drive in was much, much easier than planned), I was about to embark on one of the windingest of drives I would be taking the entire trip. I got back behind the wheel, passed back through Montrose, and turned off into the mountains, bound for…
…my next destination which I’m setting aside for just a moment. It is not in my nature to celebrate milestones, but I feel the need to from time to time. This entry is the fifteen hundredth I have written. Thank you all for sticking with me to get here. When I started writing all this seven years ago, I never imagined getting this far. Heck, until I hit entry one thousand, I never even considered getting this far. Once I hit HQ though, I figured there might be an outside chance. Well, that outside chance has arrived and tomorrow it shall be surpassed when I tell you about my visit to…

Gotta love an ammo can cache! Ive only found one. And your selfis just fine! LOL!
