Meanwhile…

It doesn’t take a mathematician to calculate it’s been over a month since I returned from Colorado. The downside of going there instead of some of my other options was that the terrain limited how many places I could go and how quickly I could get to them. But I got it done and over with, which I needed to do anyway. Fewer counties, of course, means fewer entries in a row but I was still doing stuff. What was I doing?

I had a bigger reliance on challenges to maintain my streak because the day after I got back, someone hit my car. No, I wasn’t in it and nobody was hurt as far as I know, but for a time while it was at the mechanic, I was less able to shoot off to wherever to grab my daily cache. But I don’t have a ton of challenges from the trail to Floresville for no reason. So I logged a few of them until I got my car back.

The Girls came down from Longview for an extended visit, so we went out and grabbed a few here and there. My older daughter has been practicing driving in preparation for getting her license so she did a lot of driving us around. But not to caches though since she is forbidden by law to use any phones or electronic distractions while driving and a map on a phone more than likely qualifies as such. But we still managed to get out and get a few. The highlight for me was when we went out to get them an EarthCache that I had gotten almost seven year previous with my younger daughter.

It’s like they keep growing or something. What’s up with that?

Planning for Texas Challenge continues apace. I’m in this weird limbo where there are four or five things I want to say about it, but they’re not 100% confirmed quite yet so I can’t quite announce. That said, it’ll soon be time to start transitioning from the planning stages to the physical working stages. Things need to be built, caches need to be hidden, approved ideas need implementation… And I still have phone calls and contacts to make about a plethora of other things. If you’ve never planned a Mega, well, it ain’t easy, even when you have as much help and support as I’ve got. And it’s all about to go into a higher gear.

And finally, despite it all, I cached. Somehow I managed.

And now you’re all caught up. What an exciting life I lead.
