973. Union, Franklin County (MO036)

Finally!  Franklin County had a nice piece of classical revival if ever there was one!  I couldn’t help but look at Ben himself, seated before it in statue form with his rakish purple bow, smugly enjoying how cool his courthouse is…

After driving around for a bit like we were the Keystone Cops, we went for a cache.  My original choice would have been perfect; it had no letters and would have been a forward step on a challenge I’ve been working for a very long time.  Unfortunately, it was at the back of an elementary school right at school let-out time so it was decided that it would be better to skip it.  The second option was worrisome because it hadn’t been found in a bit, but that turned out to be because it was fairly far off GZ.  Underneath a metal signpost was a keybox with a log.  Invenimus, inscripsimus, reposuimus.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Once again, we set off bound for … well, it gets a little wonky for a couple of reasons that will eventually be addressed, but the narrative would continue the next day right and proper in…
