The Higher The Highs…

…the lower the lows.

After this past weekend, I have just grabbed local, unremarkable caches under normal, unremarkable circumstances, resulting in what I consider an unremarkable entry. I know everyday caches have their place, but I have to admit that at the moment “banal” is the word that comes to mind. After having been on the back roads, I find myself longing for a stronger hit. The average lamp post won’t do at the moment. The fact that I’m still streaking probably has a bit to do with it. If I wasn’t, I could just wait until I was ready and then go out for an experience, whether it’s quantity or quality. But now I trudge on a little because I don’t want to give up on the sunken cost. I sure do wish that I could recapture that elation I felt with my first caches. Then again, I often feel something like it when I’m out on the road so maybe what I really need is to get back to the central thread of my caching experience. Shreveport and points east will be seen in a week and a half and it can’t get here soon enough. Until then, I’ll keep trudging through and be thankful for those unremarkable caches. They get me through the week until I can go for the bigger smileys in far off locales. That’s what I long to do.

  1. That’s what I long to do as well. I haven’t left my home bubble since Texas GeoCampers at Huntsville State Park back in February.
