516. Stockton, Rooks County (KS038)

Now this courthouse? This is the kind of thing I’m talking about. Yes, this is a really small town, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the courthouse. That said, Stockton apparently used to be a sundown town so that loses a few points from me. Luckily for me though, whatever it was or wasn’t in the past, it wasn’t night at the moment so I didn’t have to test that hopefully former failing out in the modern day.

There were only two caches in town. One of them, as fate would have it, was a virtual at the courthouse, here at the County War Memorial. I get why some County Challenges don’t allow virtuals, earthcaches, or anything without a log to sign, but I’m glad neither Kansas nor Texas were one of those states. As a sidenote, I worry about the day I go to do Washington. Their County Challenge requires that all the caches not only have logs, but be regular sized or larger. I foresee that one being a pain in my proverbial tulkas. But that’s for another day. My point here (and I do have one) is that I was here to do a job and I did my duty. I logged that virtual and, after gassing up, continued on my way. I was a bit abuzz with anticipation because this was going to be a special day for a couple of reasons, one I was quite aware of, one that I was not. First, though, I would have to make it through…
