There’s No Narrative To Interrupt This Time…

Last year at this time, I had completed six states. This year, I have completed one more state and added two more to my running tally, for a total of twenty-three states visited, of which seven are completed.

A couple of days ago was my fifth geoversary. It doesn’t feel like five years, and yet I know for a fact that it has been. Assuming that nothing goes sideways, today is Day 1,826 of my streak, meaning I have logged a cache every day for five years straight (and a leap day)! This past year has been, from a county perspective, my least successful year thus far. I’ve been to three counties in Idaho, six counties in Oregon, and all thirty-nine counties of Washington, for a total of forty-eight counties in three states. Based on my track record from previous years, that’s a big letdown (he said, completely disregarding the new country he cached in). However, I keep two things in mind: (1) Since I’m not independently wealthy, sometimes I have to take a step back to focus on things in real life, and (2) I still managed to do some stuff with this past year’s low county count…

Last year I also said I wasn’t going to continue my streak. That turned out to be a bigger lie than skim milk. Besides, your ravenous need for content paired with my borderline obsessive desire to find caches will probably ensure that it continues for a while longer. Of course, I have other geocaching-related things to do as well, so I’m sure that no matter what happens, I will keep you all sated on a diet of caching stuff and things (and some things and stuff as well). And, of course, I have a Great Project to continue. Those other 2,369 counties (and county equivalents) aren’t going to find themselves!
