I’m So In Love With This Dirty City

Surprise! I got a cache yesterday! I decided to take a trip down south of the river, primarily for an FTF. I didn’t find it. That was no big deal because it’s not a driving thing for me and besides, I’ve already found one (actually more) this month. After a short search, primarily fueled by the fact that I couldn’t tell if the “power pole” of the hint was supposed to be the traffic signal pole (more probable) or one of the telephone poles (less probable) at GZ. Either way, after giving them all a good but quick once over, I found nothing and decided I didn’t want to devote any more time to it. If the sun had been higher, I probably would have put even less time into it, so I didn’t feel bad about it or anything, but I still needed to find a cache. Checking the map, I found a newer cache on the side of the hike and bike trail along the river and decided to go ahead and get it. It was easy peasy lemon squeezy, child’s play for me. Once I logged it, I noticed I’d gotten another bird Treasure. Looking at the electrical boxes and the trail with trees blocking the sight line, I didn’t quite get how it qualified as a Scenic View that Treasure required. Of course, as I walked back to the car …

… that erroneous thinking was corrected.

I love this city so much.

Which is kind of ironic because all I ever want to do is go other places. At least in the short term. And that is what I am about to do. As previously mentioned and barring weirdness, tomorrow evening I’m setting off on another road trip. I thought then that I was going to have to change my plans in time but that didn’t have to happen. A couple of days ago, I learned that I was going to have to change my plans in space. I was dismayed at the idea of having to reroute my entire trip, all my work being for nought. I quickly figured out that that didn’t have to be the case. All I had to do was take the same route in reverse, starting where I was going to end and ending where I was going to start. That means shaving off about half a dozen counties on the new front end of the trip, but picking up a similar number on the new back end, including some I had specifically planned to avoid for reasons. I haven’t pregamed as much as I usually do, also for reasons, but I’m mostly ready to do the thing I’ve got to do. I haven’t been out since Atlanta at Thanksgiving and I have more personal reasons than usual to need to get away. As much as I love this crazy grid of desire, it’s time to leave it behind for a bit.

Consider this a prewarning: I don’t know if I will have a Friday entry. More than likely I will, but it’s possible that I won’t. Whether I do or not, know that I will most certainly begin my begin with my next entry, whenever that is, about my arrival in…
