
When I first pulled up to the courthouse, I thought I was finally getting a more serious contender out of a Minnesota courthouse. But then I pulled up and started taking a good look at it. It had a square Midwestern tower, and an unquestionably Romanesque style, but after that it began to fall apart. At some point they did an extension to the original courthouse but out of a different color of brick? And not like a regular extension, but more like they physically remodeled the original? It felt all a mismatched hodgepodge of buildings. I don’t know what they were going for architecturally over the years and updates, but lets just say that choices were made…

The cache was quite unexpected. I have seen road ending structures or one kind or another for many years, and have retrieved caches from them for as long as I have cared to notice them, so when I saw a regular at a road terminus, my first thought was that it must be located at one of the trees behind. That was the only place for one, right? I immediately passed the structure to make for the trees beyond and began looking down at the roots for my quarry. Boy was I wrong! An ammo can in a wire rack hanging on the back of the wooden slat? Just thin enough that none of it can be seen from the street? Clever! If it had been a snake, it would have bit me!
