960. Harrisonville, Cass County (MO023)

I feel like I was just in Cass County… That said, again with the Midwestern square towers! That also said, usually when I see a motto on a courthouse, I tend to be somewhat cynical about it. It’s hard for me to feel cynical about this one, a true statement. The word “republic” literally comes from res publicae, meaning “public thing.” It’s a good thing for our citizens to enjoy the rights deriving therefrom. It’s a good thing for the occupants of our hallowed halls to remember. But that’s neither here nor there. I thought I might say something about the building’s small and round footprint, but I was tired and my brain wasn’t working as it normally did.

The cache was a piece of faux Tupperware in a retaining wall. Luckily, I didn’t have to knock on the fairy door and invoke the attention of its residents. Fairies (not to be mistaken for ferries) can be notoriously complicated to deal with (much like ferries). I did my business and even left an offering of swag at my penultimate stop.
