
It was just beginning to get darker when I arrived so fireflies lit my way as I walked across the lawn to the front of the Cass County Courthouse. You don’t see so many of them these days, so it wasn’t the welcome I expected (if any) but it was a picturesque way to see a lovely piece of art deco. The fading rays of the sun brought its details into relief, especially the details in the windows above the main doors. I paused for a moment so I could take it all in. I usually don’t consider my courthouse visits in a holistically aesthetic way, but for that moment, I let it all pass over me and through me. Or some kind of crap like that.

As I pulled up to the appropriate guard rail to grab the cache, I checked the page and saw that it was supposed to be a nano. I wasn’t looking forward to that in the last light of the day, but someone was kind enough to have replaced it with a keybox, making it a whole lot easier to find than before. Heck, I spotted it while walking up to the rail. That worked out nicely because, with night descending like the cloak of a brooding god, a bunch of caches in the coming counties were about to be cut off for me. I was even prepared for the possibility that I might have to completely bypass a few counties remaining on the list, but I figured I’d cross that bridge if I got to it.
