506. Oberlin, Decatur County (KS028)

Stately. Majestic. Traditional. I liked it, but I didn’t have a lot to say about it at that moment (other than the fact that I’ve been to another one). Let me tell you something about me and my travels: I have a tendency to go hard for the first 24 to 36 hours, but after a that I really begin to drag. Once I’ve traveled all night then gone the next day without sleep, it starts to catch up with me and I begin to wane. I know that doesn’t make me different than many people, but most people I know couldn’t/wouldn’t drive all night then roll all day on the road like this. As a result, my notes and memories were not in the best form. This moment was little better.

The last thing I wanted to do was dig through a giant juniper bush looking for a cache. That being said, I ended up being lucky, finding an appropriate ammo can not too deep inside it. That was doubly lucky because if it had taken a few minutes more, I would have ditched it a heartbeat because, well, I really didn’t want to dig through a giant juniper bush looking for a cache. I don’t have time for that. But it was a trackable hotel so I should hope it wouldn’t be too hard to find! And, of course, since it was a trackable hotel, I went ahead and dropped one in because a trackable hotel without a trackable is just a hotel? A little drained, I took the opportunity to suck down a 5-Hour Energy while wondering aimlessly if there was a way to get them to sponsor my travels (I’d happily accept a sponsorship deal, preferably in money, but possibly in product [though money would work so much better]). As I was jolted back to focus and awake-ness, I considered the marketing possibilities even further as I approached…
