739. Shelton, Mason County (WA12)

Now, this is a stunning courthouse!  I heard it said that if you look up the word “courthouse” in the dictionary, you’ll see a picture of this one.  I’m not sure if that’s true because I don’t think they put pictures of courthouses in dictionaries. But it’s quite possible, and I’m willing to believe it is true.  And since it was a weekday, I was able to go inside and use their facilities. So that was nice.

As for the cache, there were no very highly favorited caches in the county, so it was “cherchez le simple.”  We pulled into a church parking lot to find a fake rock hidden by a boulder.  Someone even took the time to tether the rock to the adjacent tree so that it wouldn’t walk off.  Nice foresight.  Well played.  And with that, we were back on the road.  There was a lot of ground to be covered before arriving at the motel, so swift driving and quick stops were preferred, especially since we would have to double back a bit once finished with…
