755. Ellensburg, Kittitas County (WA22)

No. Just plain no. This place pretty much amalgamates everything I don’t like about certain courthouses. It’s got this ancient 1950s/1960s craptastic style. There are areas made from corrugated tin plating that are visible from the street. Oh, and Future Arborists of America, attend! This is exactly what you don’t want to do if you want anyone to see a courthouse ever (which I don’t think they do, for obvious reasons). I’m not going to say this is the most terrible courthouse I’ve ever seen, but it’s definitely in the lowest decile.

The funny thing is that this county is a freebie from a caching perspective! Remember when I went for the APE Cache about five days and thirty entries ago? Well, there’s a cache about three-quarters of a mile into the tunnel, and, as fate would have it, it is located in Kittitas County! All I needed to do here was photograph. But remember, I’m traveling with someone! He had solved an Unknown Cache in the county (have I mentioned he’s hellaciously good at solving puzzles?), so we went to grab it.

It turned out to be near the courthouse at the old train station. We found a signal box with a lock, and behold! We were questioning how the CO even got permission for this one! There turned out to be several trackables so we switched some out for the next visitors to grab, thankful that we didn’t have to look for something magnetic on the engine behind us. I want to say it was easy peasy with a side of lemon squeezy, but I didn’t have to solve the puzzle. He did all the hard work. I just stood around and looked pretty. And with that completed, we were off. I had many other places to grace with my beauty, the next one being…
