So the girls and I went for a drive. I had to get them back to their mother after a weekend of shenanigans. At the same time, I also realized that I didn’t have a cache for the day. But that’s one of the good things about grabbing a cache on the road. We were away from the picked over map of Travis County. I pulled into the parking lot of the Falls County Courthouse and looked upon a fresh map from which to choose a cache. Unfortunately, Marlin doesn’t have many caches in the town limits. Fortunately, there are some and there’s always a cemetery. I busted a U-turn and drove a half mile back.

The ever-observant younger daughter immediately spotted the decon container in a tree, and the older daughter and I signed it. It was a quick and easy operation, taking no more than fifteen minutes. In a weird way, I’m actually happy that the girls are so comfortable in cemeteries. A lot of people find them to be strange, uncanny places. Not them. I want them to be unafraid to go pretty much anywhere. We joked about anime as we mounted back up in the car and set off for our final destination.

So I chose an appropriate cache for my seven thousandth last week. The folks at Headquarters were kind enough to give us a a new Locationless Cache for this year which is, ironically, based on finding interesting locations. I decided it was time to take advantage of it. Before work, I took an early morning drive to scenic Mount Bonnell. From the top, I looked upon the city. Fog, the result of desperately needed rain, obscured my view of the city, but it was not enough to stop me. I took the best photo I could, and logged GC9FAVE as my cache for the day, number seven thousand. As a sidenote, this gave me a sixth different icon of milestones, but that wasn’t important. That cool, damp morning air was all that I needed.

Hey atreides78723, thanks for the link to GC9FAVE, I was completely unaware of this cache. Thanks to you I have now logged the find, along with three photos, and added a Favorite Point too the grand total.

I forgot about GC9FAVE. Probably a life-saver for people doing certain challenges.
