Quite a structure, no? This is what a courthouse should look like! In fact, I’ve got to admit it’s a little scary and imposing in the dark. I don’t know if it’s the brick or the grandness of it, but it makes one feel uneasy. It’s the kind of place that an eccentric millionaire would … Continue reading 736. 735. Port Angeles, Clallam County (WA08)
Good form, Port Angeles! This is more like what I want to see from a courthouse! I bet you’re even prettier during the day, all brick and whitewash. Once again, I shook my fist at the ferry that both had and had not brought me to this. There was no time to dawdle. The hour … Continue reading 735. Port Angeles, Clallam County (WA08)

734. Port Orchard, Kitsap County (WA07)
I liked the Art Deco–entrance thing they had going on, but otherwise, this courthouse was nothing more than a modern building with a brick facade. A little part of me wondered whether this had been an older, original courthouse front and they managed to preserve it for this building, but after my unplanned roadtrip, I … Continue reading 734. 733. Friday Harbor, San Juan County (WA06)
The courthouse was not bad as courthouses go. Instead of tearing down the old one and rebuilding, they basically made an extension, leaving the old courthouse as one of its wings. The brick doesn’t blend, of course, but it still makes for an attractive footprint with a very traditional entrance on one side. The hardest … Continue reading 733. Friday Harbor, San Juan County (WA06)
732. Coupeville, Island County (WA05)
That’s a nice courthouse! Totally Art Deco with almost a stucco look to it. The brick makes for some nice accents, too. Strangely enough, it was difficult to find a place to park to get this because there was a local music festival starting nearby. Nothing on the scale of SXSW, mind you, but enough … Continue reading 732. Coupeville, Island County (WA05)
A Fourth Year Gone By
Four years. Are you kidding me? How is this even possible? How am I still writing this? How are you all still reading this? I don't even have any answers for you! All I can say for sure is that I just got back a few days ago from finishing Washington and speaking at the 20th … Continue reading A Fourth Year Gone By
GeoWoodstock XVIII
After two years of planning, I made it! Technically, I made it the evening before. There was that Event that I popped into for a little bit before I hit the TARDIS. That was more to figure out where this was and to find a couple of other attendees. I had recently picked up a … Continue reading GeoWoodstock XVIII
I Must Concede Weakness
I spent yesterday traveling from Seattle back to Austin. I am tired and haven't had much of a chance to write anything because I've had a busy weekend at the end of a busy week. I've seen things, talked to people, and brought some stuff home (I specifically owe Frau Potter an apology because her … Continue reading I Must Concede Weakness
