In the second entry of what seems to be turning into the Bridges of Travis County series, today I found a cache here at the Larry Monroe Forever Bridge. For those of you who are not from here, Larry Monroe was a long time radio DJ here in Austin well known for his his programs promoting local, regional, and Texas-based music. His reach and influence were national, even being featured in the 2015 Grammys “In Memoriam” segment. In 2015, this bridge was opened near a downtown park.

The cache itself is not actually on the bridge. It’s actually nearby in a tree near the running stream (which really wasn’t running much because Austin) going under the bridge.

This is one that’s been unfound for a while so the CO recently checked up on it and it turned out to have fallen down its hidey hole a bit too far to reach. It got fixed and now it’s back in form.

The happy little sidenote is that it’s close to another cache that is one of the oldest in the region and has had a spotty history of being found. So I popped by and took a look for it. It’s there! But I’m saving it for another time. As they say, tomorrow is another day…
