
How are you gonna keep ‘em down on the farm once they’ve seen the lights of Ritzville? Yes, Ritzville is pretty small, though not Moro or Paint Rock small, so there’s that. I will say the courthouse is a nice specimen. It’s looking back to the WPA, and there’s just a little bit of Art Deco in there to make some nice accents. Part of me wanted to wander around it a bit, but I had more important things to do. Well, actually, I didn’t because I already grabbed the cache on the way here.

Heading into town, we pulled off the highway onto a sideroad. At the appropriate point on the side of that road, we scrambled down into some more hated sagebrush and found a suspicious-looking Tupperware container. The good news was that it was the cache! The bad news was that it was full of slime! The top had cracked, allowing moisture to get in. A recent finder mentioned having to pour water out of it, but the immediately previous finder did not. I can’t tell you if water would have been better, but it turned out alright in the end. And the CO ended up disabling it for maintenance a few days later, so I assumed it would soon be returned to proverbial fighting shape.
