The centrality of the courthouse to the life of Brookhaven is beyond question considering that both the county and City Hall are bundled together as one general government center. It’s probably little more than an attempt to save money in a less wealthy community by consolidating buildings, but what do I know? I’m sure Brookhaven has its charms. I just haven’t seen them and certainly wasn’t going to be around long enough to assess what they are. I was running and gunning (proverbially, of course). All I cared about was a cache.

The old train station, now military museum, was the answer, especially since it was the closest option. I wasn’t enthused by the idea of finding a nano on a waterspout on a rainy day, but it turned out to be quick and easy, the perfect cache to fill my needs. I still couldn’t shake the feeling that I was running short on time even though I was not only not on a deadline, and I was still running ahead if I had been. My over-optimism during planning had worked in my favor on this day unlike other days (my original plans upon arriving in Atlanta, in hindsight, were insane, even for me).
